Materials with Purpose

In the world of swimwear — where every piece is born of sun, salt, and sea — beauty and responsibility must coexist.

At Borneo Paris, we design with intention.
Our collections are crafted using high-quality Italian fabrics made from regenerated or recycled fibers — including ECONYL® regenerated nylon — materials that give new life to what was once waste while maintaining the performance essential to swimwear.

As we continue to grow our range, we remain committed to choosing fabrics that balance durability, elegance, and environmental consciousness. Different pieces may use different responsible fibers, but the philosophy behind them stays the same: to create refined swimwear with a lighter footprint.

The Nylon Dilemma

Swimwear relies on nylon and elastane for strength, stretch, and comfort.
But traditional nylon comes from fossil fuels — a clear environmental challenge.

Our approach is to be transparent. A fully plastic-free performance swimwear fabric does not yet exist without compromising quality and longevity. Instead, we choose regenerated or recycled fibers wherever possible, giving existing plastic waste a second life while maintaining performance.

As our collections expand, we may use different combinations of responsible fibres — always selected with intention.

Every thread is a deliberate choice that balances aesthetics, responsibility, and endurance.

Microplastics & Shedding

All synthetic fabrics — even regenerated or recycled ones — can shed microplastics during washing. These tiny fibers can enter waterways and ultimately reach the ocean.

We believe awareness is essential. While we continue to explore next-generation materials with lower shedding, responsible care at home makes a meaningful difference:

Hand-wash your swimwear whenever possible to reduce fibre release and extend garment life.

If using a washing machine, use a microplastic-filtering bag (such as GuppyFriend) to help prevent fibers from entering waterways.

Small gestures contribute to protecting the seas that inspire our designs.

A Collective Effort

We don’t claim to have all the answers. But we are committed to asking the right questions, choosing better materials as they become available, and improving with every decision.

Our goal is simple: create elegant, long-lasting swimwear with respect for the planet — one piece at a time.
